Hopefully you can catch up on iPlayer. Did you get to see last evening show on iP or are you only hearing about the fall out from the show without seeing the controversial feature?
An apology - at least we know they look at our comments. I got the impression that AC was more tha a little hurt at the coments about him. CB on the other hand seemed happy about it.

ReplyDeleteHe seemed very subjued about the subject of his beard. I think he has only agreed to remove it under pressure.
I didn't get to hear exactly what they said about the Kaye Adams feature, because 'him in doors' decided to speak to me at that exact moment the suject was raised. A rare event for him to speak in the evening so his timing could not have been worse.

About the BBC referrals: I can't tell if they are tosbloggers or BBC staff. The former is more likely, I think.

ReplyDeleteI am going to watch both the Thursday & Friday editions to see the crime and the apology. Then I want to write a letter of complaint to all and sundry at the BBC.
It will be interesting to see whether iplayer has been edited.
JH, By the good Lord man, you have stamina,not in one sitting I hope! I have sent nine letters to various bodies, it is interesting to see that FINALLY the BBC TOS team have been forced to acknowledge the opinions of their audience. There is surely no precedent for editing iplayer and if that has been done it is a foolhardy move. I am still laughing at Bill Smith's comment on the Paul Merton blog Post 145, and further on where he refers to the abbreviation TOS, and asks if that means we can now refer to the production team et al as

JH, those ears! How expressive they are. I always feel sorry for people who say animals have no way of expressing themselves.I did notice however that she makes no attempt to slaughter the vacuum cleaner parts, we are on our fourth set of floor cleaning heads. Chip has even broken into the storage cupboard and stolen them to gain revenge for their sneaky attacks upon him.!

ReplyDeleteI am not expecting any form of redress from TOS, as they could not even be honest and explain that their brief statement was only a part of the BBC's response to the many complaints. They omitted the part which apportioned blame to them, see JH's link lower down the page!

The BBC has said that the Kay Adam's piece was "not as good as it should be." I submit that nothing on TOS is ever as good as it should be. But in the light of this Kay Adams incident TOS is in danger of becoming a rather nasty little show.

ReplyDeleteDanedweller, I didn't realise that the Jonathon Ross show was a sports show, as that is all AC is fit for! Fortunately I don't listen to or watch the pottymouthed man so it will be of no consequence to me or many others now.

ReplyDeleteJonathon Ross had a foul mouth and was at times silly. On the other hand he was witty, intelligent, articulate and he always gave a powerful performance. Whereas Adrian Chiles is well he is what he is.
ReplyDeleteRob always listened to his radio show [Ross]on Saturdays, and found it very entertaining. I found his style a little coarse.

ReplyDeleteI don't watch or listen to Jonathan Ross, he is not my cup of tea. I found it amusing that AC should be even considered for such a prestigious slot on the BBC. I won't repeat what Steve Allen said on LBC when he announced it. Anyone who listens to him will have a good idea.
ReplyDeleteJade 14.56, you are right he should stick to talking about sport and keep well away from trying to be entertaining or amusing because that takes both talent and charisma. Unfortunately, he doesn't posses those genes.

If the presenters on TOS are to change, who would you have for a pairing or would one, with a good personality, do the job?
astroplums, I think a duo would be best, as then there is always the need to be as good if not better than your co-host, thereby keeping everyone on their toes! I don't have a problem with CB as a presenter, but would think her sidekick should be a slightly older chap, to lend some sense of depth to the programme, sadly lacking at the moment. I have always liked Mat Dawson's realistic approach to life, and have enjoyed him in anything he turns his hand to. He can be a bit intense, but is VERY flexible.

I have just had the posts returned to me that were removed !I cant believe that a comment such as my reply to Flunk regarding him being George Clooney was removed?and my reply regarding Myleene Klass doing well why should Christine not do the same was removed?none of that makes sense , who was I offending ? guess someone does not like me ?
ReplyDeletehighlandfling, the excuse they always gave me was that I was "off topic", I had eighteen removed in one day, and that's when you realise it's being done purely for spite. I found it incredibly annoying and frustrating that some little inadequate should disrupt everyone's enjoyment. Here you don't have to worry as JH points out you won't be judged to be off topic, and we can even share a few facts about ourselves!
