Welcome. This place is for refugees from The erstwhile TOSblog. Talk freely - for nothing is 'off topic' nor moderated here. AKA "JADED'S CELEBRITY NOOSE"", where we can have fun disecting overpaid, overated, ungrateful halfwits and generally put the world to right.
You may well be right JH, but it is a VERY flattering photo of AC, and he is smiling!!! Is the new format to begin this week I wonder [hope].
ReplyDeletePoor bloke - believe me it could be much worse; Nick Knowles,Richard Hammond, Captain Slow, Dale Winton, Nicky Campbell and a long list of hopeless TV presenters (all deeply in love with themselves). At least AC can laugh at himself.
ReplyDeleteMore to the point, who would you replace CB with? AC doesn't set out to make a celeb of himself but that woman is on a 'butter wouldn't melt in my mouth routine' whilst at the same time doing everything to up her celeb profile. The 'are they, aren't they routine' routine with Flumk is a classic, ready to backfire at any moment. Wonder if Flunk will be watching the 'missus' cooking on Marco's thing tonight.
Oops, must dash, Rachels on in a moment.
astroplums, when you say AC can laugh at himself, look at his eyes when he's [supposedly] doing so. It may well be that he would prefer us to see him as amused by the fact he's thought to miserable sod, than have it confirmed that he is!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed Rachel, how do you cope with the weekend when you are deprived of her company?
Sorry, didn't reply to your question, who would I advocate to replace CB, anyone with a brain, no cackle, and the ability to keep her legs and mouth closed!

The weekend on the other hand, is very hard for me.

ReplyDeleteYou have possibly seen this in the guardian.
danedweller
ReplyDeletethks for link
Great guest - has done some brilliant documentaries.
ReplyDeleteHad a look at that Guardian story. Very much on AC's side.
Quick panic on the stocking top front, Louise.
ReplyDeletePathe News, the cinema isn't the same without it. But that is coming from someone who has been once in the last 20 years. (blush).
ReplyDeleteflunk 1913
ReplyDeleteI googled Louise Minchin because I didn't know who the hell she was. The listings came up with her name associated with stocking tops??????
danedweller
ReplyDeleteLouise Minchin used to be on Radio 5 and I think is now on BBC News 24
flunk 1950
ReplyDeleteThanks for that. I have heard the name but couldn't place her.
It's hard to type whem the dog insists on leaning his head on your arm!
Off topic.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Ashes to Ashes this evening, but hopefully not on Tuesday when we fly to the UK.
danedweller, very punny, lol, are you doing anything special during your stay here?
ReplyDeleteShe has better legs than, CB.
ReplyDeletejadedoldie 21.36
ReplyDeleteVisiting much missed family, Shopping, especially M&S! and eating out without a herring or smoked eel on the menu! lol
Danedweller 13.21, that sounds like a lovely way to spend time, I hope you enjoy yourself and that you have no problems with travelling. I perversely look on smoked eel as a treat, lol.
ReplyDeleteWith the start of "Britains Got Talent" I was surprised that the self obsessed Amanda Holden wasn't on the one show last week, plugging her wares. Interesting if she pops up this week now that her best mate CB is back.
ReplyDeleteWhen does this Friday on hour show start? It's not this coming week.
sorry about typos in previous. Should be "Friday One Hour Show"...
ReplyDeleteWell, heaven knows if it is true, but according to the Sunday Mirror, AC is quitting and Chris Hollins, the guy on last week, is to replace him.
ReplyDeleteWith the new guy 4 days a week and Evans on Friday, I certainly won't be watching regularly.
Bad move, BBC.
I think it's time to quit UK, its been sold down the river. What a shame!!!!
ReplyDeleteApparently AC has now signed with ITV. So thats that JH & jaded.
ReplyDeleteCB, allegedly is looking for a pad with Flunk ...she's not going to let up on free dough that easily. If he does a JT on her, will she stand by her man? Probably.
Ah1 the joy of the Sunday papers!
I have enjoyed TOS this week, I find Chris Hollins amusing and endearing, and Louise Minchin is a pleasant unassuming woman, maybe not an earth shattering pair, but watchable and relaxing, just what I want in a lightweight early evening programme. The pleasure of watching without AC looking for un-PC incidents will be immense!!!! I don't want to be patronised, I don't want to be "entertained" at kindergarten level and I don't want to rule the world, so I have no point of contact with AC and CB.
ReplyDeleteI wonder for how much longer will AC be on the show. It will be interesting to watch viewing figures if a new crew take over. I don't think there will will be much of a change, unless the opposition put on something to compete with it at that time. I think many folk have it on in the background whilst having dinner. In computer terms, TOS is wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteDon't you think TOS is geared towards the young?
ReplyDeleteandy
ReplyDeleteYes, it probably is most of the time - some of the humour is positively juvenile sometimes (humour in the loosest sense!).
Heard this morning on LBC that AC has signed with ITV and will not be returning to TOS. Not sure how much one can rely on the info. AC launched TOS and CB joined shortly afterwards making the program 'theirs'. Looking at TOS's facebook entry AC and CB have a loyal following. Will the program survive without one or either of them for long? Less discerning viewers do get 'plugged into' personalities these days (celebrity cluture) rather than the content.
ReplyDeleteFlunk you are on the money with your wallpaper comment, I LIKE the fact you don't have to pay attention, it's just a nice little witter going on in the background, quite soothing AT TIMES. Unfortunately AC seemed to want to introduce a little controversy, he is not suited to "edginess", and not quick witted enough [imo]to achieve any sort of result, besides which an early evening slot was totally unsuitable for experimentation.
ReplyDeleteDanedweller 1521
ReplyDeleteI read in one of the rags that AC has quit and signed a fairly generous deal with ITV. Supposedly doing early morning chat show and also footie.
Ref your Facebook comment - think there will be many sad people on there tomorrow. It does have a faithful following.
I suggest that the BBC is engineering AC's departure. This because BBC producers see AC as a hindrance in their desire to revamp TOS. AC gives me the impression that he believes that TOS is Adrian Chiles and that he is bigger than the show. The BBC does not like this.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the choice of presenters for TOS makes little difference to the viewing figures anyway. Most of the viewers do not actually watch the show. For them it is little more than moving wallpaper.
JH your 8.28, the BBC is not alone in disliking AC's sense of his own importance, it is one of the reasons I have never liked him, and I believs many others feel the same way!
ReplyDeleteJust giggling over the photos of CB and FL, with mother in tow, at what is described by the DM as an 'exclusive Italian resturant' near Chelsea.
ReplyDeleteSince when did 'exclusive' includes tomato and brown sauce bottles on the table and a tacky chalkboard. Unless, of course, the description is describing the resturant patrons who are are exclusively footballers who can't eat anything without a dollop of tomato sauce
Poor GMTV viewers,(I am not one thank goodness) they are going to have to suffer AC's cheerful disposition 5 mornings a week to start their day off!
ReplyDeleteDanedweller, thank heavens I am not a fan of GMTV either, imagine waking up to Mr. Grumpy each day!!! Have you any news on your break in the U.K., are you able to make alternative arrangements if necessary?
ReplyDeleteSee what you mean about the "exclusive" restaurant, lol, bet they do a mean chicken nugget to go with the elegant sauce bottle!
ReplyDeletejadedoldie 15.50
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately we are grounded. First time since I was a teenager lol, even then they couldn't keep me from escaping!
We have taken a chance and rebooked for next wednesday, hoping that all will be back to normal by then! My sis was very depressed when I rang her this morning because we had cancelled our visit yesterday and cheered up again when I told her our new plans.
I haven't been to the UK since last summer so looking forward to some affordable shopping!
Danedweller, glad to hear your visit will go ahead even if it is delayed!
ReplyDeletejaded 18.04
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I hear that Chris Hollins will take over for AC. I know you quite enjoyed his hosting TOS last week, but I can only agree with someone who said he had about as much charisma as a warm salad.
Danedweller 18:23
ReplyDeleteIf Chris Hollins does take over, they'll have to get him a stepladder because in heals CB will about a foot taller them him.
P.S
Should be an interesting show tonight
I will miss AC working with CB. It was entertaining in that when he did fumble & mumble CB quietly bailed him out. A bit like a modern day Fanny & Johnny. Chris Hollins just doesn't look like a suitable foil for CB - I think she could eat him for breakfast. Please God, we don't get numpties like Gethin Jones or Steve Jones...good looking blokes, but utterly wooden.
ReplyDeleteAC is on for the rest of the monthy according to News 24.
Whilst I agree with JH & Jaded that sometimes he can look a bit disinterested, I think the Beeb have scored an own goal with this and Evans on Friday will be a disaster. Good on radio but not telly.
gaz911 18.38
ReplyDeleteJust seen it announced on BBC news (crickey he is that news worthy on a busy news day) he has left TOS. He must be feeling VERY important.
Yes, TOS will be very interesting, especially CB's interaction with the 'little' strictly CD zedlebrity. At least he will have SCD in common with CB, but I am sure he will let it be known that he WON and she did not! I have a feeling that he is going to try and hog the limelight over her.
hello..one and all.
ReplyDeletei am here ,,,hope you are all well
well...the one show started the same,,,no comment on the adrian situation.
ReplyDeletethen the expert on the flying problem quickly turned the topic into "the south east" !!!!!!
now we are in croydon...london london london
ReplyDeleteHi hokeykokeyalex
ReplyDeleteWelcome on board.
I am surprised that AC is on the show tonight, having signed with ITV I thought the would be persona non grata.
Strange that CB should say her mother was stranded on hols, I thought there were ferries between England and Ireland? Maybe she has been using the no flight problem as an excuse for FL to see more of his future mother in law.
ReplyDeletehello........have been on board before,,,just fell out of love with the one show.
ReplyDeletei am now back in my cabin and making sure all is well in london.
We know your mother is over CB. It only took you 10 seconds to tell us. That apart I do hope she gets back OK.
ReplyDeleteCB seems to have stopped wearing skirts...the previous week she was on, it was trousers every night. Hope that Flunk is not getting jealous and insecure again.
Adrian, aviod at all costs raising your arms above your head. It's not a good look.
I think Christine sounds a bit emotional tonight.
ReplyDeleteHokeykokeyalex
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear from you again!
London centric - they'll be off in Budgie and his rubber band to - yes, you've guessed it - somewhere in the South East.
Adrian should be removed from the show....he is in the departure lounge,he does not care.
ReplyDeletehe is more laid back that ever.
strange we never see gyles ooooooooooop north...
always anita.
hello again astroplums.
ReplyDeletehave still been watching,,justed peed off by being "banned" from the official site didnt want to promote the show in any way.
i have noticed that the tellycopter has always been short on fuel
gaz911 19.19
ReplyDeleteYes she does. She is in the mode, 'if I don't laught I might cry'.
astroplums 19.18
Even with her trousers she is wearing 5 inch heels!
Danedweller 1928
ReplyDeleteShe seems unable to live without walking on stilts. In flats she is about 5 ft 9in - she clearly has a need to look down on people. FL is not the biggest bloke in the world, in fact he wears lifts to get a bit more height. Odd couple!
astroplums 1928
ReplyDeleteFootball boots with lifts, interesting lol. Does that mean he scores higher?
Hokey 1927
ReplyDeleteThe helicopter they use, a Robinson, is as mickey mouse as they come.
Danedweller 1949
ReplyDeleteWhilst your on about higher - when she was demonstaring that iPhone app - did my eyes deceive me? Does she have a tattoo on her left nork or was that underwear? Forgive me if I was distracted from the iPhone, the possible tattoo was more interesting. Having said that, I can't stand the bloody things.
JH
ReplyDeleteFascinating that the title of this particular blog, continued from last week, is "Career change for Adrian Chiles".
You were spot on with that one.
astroplums, nork? Was ist das?
ReplyDeleteHKA, great to have you surface again!
Danedweller, I fear pulling CB was NOT scoring higher lol.
Hokeykokeyalex,
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
