Simon Dee

Simon Dee

Daybreak _silly The following piece in the DM is interesting and well thought through. The similarity with the decline and fall of Simon Dee had also occurred to me. Simon Dee fell a long way down and he never recovered.

I recall that we used to look forward too and enjoy Simon Dee’s teatime show. I could not say the same about TOS when it was in the clutches of Renee & Renata.

Or is it just my youth that I recall – and miss.

I read article with same interest, but would suggest that it was Simon Dee's arrogance ando utrageous behaviour that cost him so dear.

I remember that screaming, Davina McColl, making several real turkeys, particularly that chat show which was pulled very quickly. Sadly she is still on the box earning a mint. It's an unfair world.

I also read ( Sun )with interest this morning that Renata was to make a keep-fit video, but it has been 'delayed' due to her busy schedule of meetings trying to save 'Daybreak'. More like it wouldn't sell due to her association with the current turkey that is Daybreak.

    Thank god for Rachel!

You will be delighted, if not bewildered, to note that the "Women of The Year Awards" have voted Renata as the "Top TV Presenter".

  3. Astroplums,

It's a fix - truly it must be. No doubt cooked up by ITV in a last ditch attempt to rescue Daybreak.

What now for Renee - Best Dressed Man?

  4. The joys of being a highly paid failure - Renee and Renata are in 10 Downing Street again. (DM)

  5. astroplums,

Perhaps they've applied for a job as cleaners.

  6. We are often accused of wrongly attributing human emotions to other species, but this morning I saw something sooooooo funny I have to wonder! One of our resident blackbirds was tootling around picking up odds and ends of scraps when a large leaf fell from the fig tree and landed on his back, startling him. To my great glee, he picked it up by the stalk and THRASHED it on the ground 'til it was shredded. Basil Fawlty and the broken-down Austin1100 had nothing on this hissy fit, lol.

  7. Finance CV of 13 November: This is spam.

'Finance CV' is nothing more than a link to a blog that, among other things, offers to help you write your CV. There is no address other than a PO Box in Los Angeles.

It is wise to exercise caution when submitting a CV online. Some of these sites exist solely to harvest information which is then used to commit identity fraud.

  8. 'smplc' at 13 November is also spam and links to the same website as 'finance Cv'.

I wonder - no it couldn't be - is it Tim Rawlinson?

My imagination is now running amok. I can see Adam Crozier, in a fit of frustration, knocking 7 bells out of Renee, whilst Renata legs it, singing Blackbird Bye, Bye.

  11. OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES AND SUCKLINGS.

Yesterday my godson and I were looking at old photos, they included several of my [now, sadly, retired]hunter Arran. He has an endearing habit of throwing up his head and laughing, with a great display of teeth, and young Robbie, after staring at the photo for a while announced "he looks exactly like that Irish lady on the television" No prizes for guessing who he meant!!!!

Robbie is an observant little soul! Suggest you introduce him to a photo of Red Rum and then he can have a double helping.

  14. astroplums,

Here is the DM link to the subject:

At least JM is quitting for an honourable reason and not because he is an incompetent presenter.

Am I glad that twitter and its like did not exist in my day. Methinks I would have got myself into terrible trouble.

No girl ever sent me pictures of herself in her underwear, sadly. But one girl, who sat opposite me at work, persisted in deliberately tormenting me with a way of eating her Crunchie Bar that drove me insane. It amused her.

I expect that these days I would be expected to report her for sexual harassment. However, I was flattered by her attentions bearing in mind that I was a mere male. I recall that she was stunningly attractive, and that we found ample time to discuss my predicament in depth, in private, and that we found a solution to my problem that satisfied us both.

    The mind boggles, you rascal.

I do think that the twitter thing with JM has been overplayed - far too easy to be gulled into making a saucy reply. Don't think it was much more than that.

I think the problem he has, is that being in London 4 nights a week and touring the rest of the time is hardly conducive to a settled marriage in the north of the country. Mind you he should have figured that out before he joined.

  16. Astroplums:
It is also apparent that he was the victim of a predatory and venal female who is set on selling her story to the press. Whatever that story may be.

  17. I feel quite sad that Jason has quit, I fear he got caught up in the excitement of seeing himself feted and well-paid, a la Chiles, with a glittering future ahead of him. He didn't take the time, perhaps, to think out how he would cope with his prior commitments, and as a result has overstretched himself and let down some of his fans. The twitter thing is annoying, these females who court advances and then draw their skirts around them and scream assault need to be treated with the contempt they deserve!!!! By the way John, I can be VERY provocative with a bounty bar, call me, lol.

  18. Sad to read that JM is now sharing TOS 'secrets' with his audience.

Attacking to defend is not always advisable and I fear that he was firmly pushed by the Beeb, rather than justly leaving quietly.

He will gain more respect by just keeping shtum.

  19. Must say that I enjoy TOS much more these days. It has become much easier viewing and the guests seem to get a much more freedom. AJ is becoming more confident and the current pairing is as good as it ever has been.

  20. astroplums,

I agree with every word. I enjoy the TOS.

  21. Same here,TOS has greatly improved, shame that irritating man Lenny Henry had to thrust himself on the audience tonight.
