We are presented with the hapless figure of Adrian Chiles.

We are presented with the hapless Adrian Chiles sporting a beard he clearly does not want.
Christine has her dress and now Adrian has his beard. Both the dress and the beard are there to serve the same purpose. Which is to distract the viewer from just how vapid is TOS. The Producer is making AC look ridiculous. Though to be fair, for 2 million a year I would certainly sport a beard. For that kind of money I would also give serious consideration to wearing one of Christine's dresses.

  1. JH, have you seen the Online Mail article about TOS, refer back to "TOS returned last night"
I'm OK with the dresses, but please consider a longer skirt!

    ReplyDelete
  2. Jadedoldie, Your 1504,

Yes I have just read it. TOS begins to attract bad publicity. Nemesis is nigh - I hope.

A long skirt you say. I was really thinking of a short one. Some say my knees are my best feature.

  3. Here is a link to the Daily Mail article mentioed above:

  4. JH re the skirt and the knees, essential info required, DO YOU WAX? TOS is not flavour of the month with Mail readers, lol.

  5. I'm afraid I am not able to post links, or I would have done so, I will ask one of my visitors to demonstrate one day. Yippee, the postie has just got through to us, 12 days mail to read, and 12 days letters for him to take!

  6. Lack of loyalty in TOS office if someone splits on the editor.

Noticed an article in the Express a couple of weeks back, based on someone grassing on CB's alledged teeth cleaning neurosis. Never got the brush out of her hand, apparently.

Wouldn't like to work with that crew.

The photos on this link make AC look as if all he needs is a bottle of wine in a paperbag.

  8. danedweller 1800

I saw that as well - can only think they are scratching for news to include that. I do think the D.Mail has it in for CB as they seem to pick up on just about anything she does.

  9. Will the Editor Doug Carnegie be dealt the same hand as Carol Thatcher? I think not. She referred to someones hair resembling a children's character of yesteryear. He doubted Ronnie Corbett's parentage and brought attention to him being vertically challenged.

It would appear that some on the TOS team will go to the press for money and they should also be sacked for their disloyalty. However, maybe they have issues with the Editor who obviously likes to throw his weight around.

  10. Danedweller

Can one edit the colour of ones name on the blog? I see yours is different.

  11. astroplums 18.04

DM is obsessed with sublebrity, it fills column inches and I don't this she sets out to court the press.

The photos of AC in this article just highlights to show how scruffy and sloppy he looks for someone fronting a Primetime TV show. I get the impression that he is beginning to think he is to big for the show and it is being reflected in his appearance.

Last year he looked like Benny Hill and the start of the new year he looks like Rab C Nesbitt. LOL

  12. astroplums 18.10

I'm not sure about that, mine appears to be orange the same as everyone elses. I haven't done anything different in the settings. I notice that I am listed on the lefthand side as being a follower!! What colour does it appear to you?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Interesting that at 1823 there is still no intro on the site as to tonights guests or programme.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Danedweller

Your name is orange, whilst everyone else is blue

    ReplyDelete
  15. The problem with TOS team is that they have overlooked the simple fact that if you lie down with dogs you get up with fleas as the old saying goes. As far as I can see, they all deserve each other!
All of your names appear blue to me, and the date and time are yellow.[ish]

    ReplyDelete
  16. astroplums.

Ok I can only see everyone else in orange as well as myself.

I comment as a google follower in the dropdown box beanth the post a comment box. maybe that has a bearing on the colour. If not, I haven't got a clue. Maybe JH or someone else more computer savi than me would know why.

    ReplyDelete
  17. astroplums

Just noticed, mine is in blue! and jade sees everyone's in blue. There's a quandary.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Maybe Paul Merton has pulled out over the Ronnie Corbett fracas. Wouldn't that be a hoot, no guest at the 11th hour.

    CB could call in Frank.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 1843 Danedweller

    Can he speak English?

    ReplyDelete
  20. 1847 astroplums

Not sure, not being a football fan I have never heard his speak. Being a footballer maybe he speaks gibberish.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Good to see that they are using regional reporters for once. Definitely a plus.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Once again it's mainly about Adrians beard

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes but I wish he would stop scratching it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Far too long at 1 hour. The petty complaints are flooding in.

What interests me is whether the "one off" contributors actually read the other posts or is a missive despatched in a fit of angst?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lots of new contributors again tonight. The beard has instigated a lot of new bloggers wishing to voice their opinion on AC's very scruffy appearance. Maybe a few others courtesy of TOS team attempting to lift the mood of the forum and dilute the negative comments.

I agree astroplums, the content of the show was too long to justify the content. Paul Merton managed to keep CB smiling and even AC livened up a little. Out of 10 I would give it a 5.

    ReplyDelete
  26. All the names are orange on my PC. At the moment I have no explanation for any colour difference.

I suspect that the fervent TOS beard bloggers are members of the production team.

I couldn't watch TOS tonight because my aerial is still u/s [unserviceable].

I wish some of the old regulars would join us. I miss them. I thought at least HKA would be here.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I've got to say thanks to Paul Merton that I thought it was a good show tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Just a note re the colour query... it just shows if the bloggers name has been click to view their profile. If the profile has not been viewed then it will be orange, blue if viewed.

    ReplyDelete
  29. You’re welcome; happy to assist :o)

It’s just like in Yahoo or Google when you click a link it will turn from blue to purple; the black background on this blog plays havoc with the colours but the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  30. JH

Several have disappeared off the radar - skyviewer, HKA, wigglediggle, oneeyed. Perhaps they hav eyet to return from hols.

    ReplyDelete
  31. JH 2027
HKA was not on TOS forum either so maybe busy doing something else. Hopefully will be back tomorrow. No sign of wigglediggly either but after the other evening he has been moderated off for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  32. David, thanks for that snippet of info, as soon as I clicked on your name, voila, blue. I suppose the reason I see everyone as blue is because being nosey I look at everyone's profile. Were we or were we not under instruction to provide a light-hearted show tonight, maybe to divert attention from the vortex as the ship sinks?

    ReplyDelete
  33. JH, I think we need to give people time to join us, the long break seems to have discouraged many regulars, but like you I am surprised that HKA has not signed up.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jadedoldie – glad to help.

I must say that I have been a reader of TOS blogs for a very long time and enjoy the banter until recently after the BC escapade and moderations. Hopeful that things will settle down again soon and it will once again be a source of stimulating discussions.

I agree with the points about the blogs re the beard and so forth. Think it is all part of TOS to dampen down and detract from any potential controversial blogs.

I think HKA is there – just under a different name and wishes to remain anonymous.

    ReplyDelete
  35. David, there is nothing most of us enjoy more than a good scrap, some of us are hopelessly opinionated [hangs her head in shame] but it used to result in some lively exchanges, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  36. David 2051

HKA was never short or straight to the point - if he is there then he must have changed his style.

Must admit I am watching "Flunklumpard". Love his 38. Can't figure out who he might be, but think it someone who has been blocked

    ReplyDelete
  37. David, Thanks for explaining the mystery of the colours.

    ReplyDelete
  38. That is my hunch anyway and think highlandfling thought that yesterday too on TOS blog.

    ReplyDelete
  39. astroplums, I am quite intrigued by Flunklumpard, cannot indentify the style though.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I agree 'Flunklumpard' is good value and makes me smile, especially his #38 tonight. He seems familiar somehow.

    ReplyDelete
  41. David, Your #2105: Flunklumpard & HKA are different in style.

    ReplyDelete
  42. JH - Perhaps he is disguising his style in order to keep his anonymity. Probably totally wrong; only a suspicion. If I am right then looks like he might need another name change ! Entertaining never the less.

    ReplyDelete
  43. David, Could be. The mystery will be solved one day.

    ReplyDelete
  44. If anyone has a photo which they believe would look good in one of the daily headers then please

email it to me at john@jholyer.orangehome.co.uk

    ReplyDelete
  45. Im on tehre you'll never find me

    ReplyDelete
  46. Flunklumpard and Highlandfling are flirting on TOSBLOG with sharp repartee.

    ReplyDelete
  47. These off topic conversations do not appear to bother Host Officious one little bit, can it be because they are not being judgemental about the show? Very revealing as to his instructions!

    ReplyDelete
  48. BTW, What were you doing in the theatre at Ottawa JH?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Good grief, #129 thinks the TOS producers are very creative creatures.

    Some people are easily satisfied.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Jadedoldie, Your #1243

    I was in a play.

I have done a fair bit of acting in my spare time over the years - stage, film, TV & radio. The highlight was acting in films in Bombay. I was lucky enough to get some leading parts. Some of it was shown on Chanel4. It was well paid work. I was never in the well known Hindi melodramas. All my parts were in English.
I worked with some of India's top directors and actors. They were all generous and kind to the inexperienced me. I learned so much from them. Most were bilingual in Hindi & English.

I was lucky to have all that. It was great fun. It's all over now. But I could still do a better job than Adrian Chiles.

    ReplyDelete
  51. astoplums, your #1356,

"fast and furious show with lots of laughs" she says. I missed that bit. I must haved blinked.
That post has surely come from the production team.

    ReplyDelete
  52. JH #129

Could be from within. I'm going to watch to see if 'Helen New' starts appearing regularly. With comments about 'too much about London' perhaps its HKA in disguise.

    ReplyDelete
  53. astroplums, your #1431,

Yes, a good thought. Could it be HKA, I wonder.

    ReplyDelete
  54. We once had an excellent presenter in the SW, now, sadly, dead, who was less than obedient to his masters when introducing some of the not so well made programmes. He encapsulated last night's TOS when he announced, "And now 10 minmutes of glittering amusement, spread over the next hour". Priceless!

    ReplyDelete
  55. JH, did you have a stage name, and were you involved in what is called Bollywood? I loved my years in Amdram, sadly much less impressive than yours, how I envy you! As for your last sentence at 13.57, with the greatest respect to your talents, I have an old ewe who could do better than AC.

    ReplyDelete
  56. jadeoldie, Your #1454:

"Bah, bah, bah" said with flourish and feeling. Am I still in with a chance?

I used my real name. Though my Mother, Maternal Grandparents, Maternal Great Grand Parents & Maternal Great Uncles & Aunts were all on the stage. They used the stage names Martell and Swan. Sadly I did not follow them. Though it was not for lack of opportunity.
Nowadays Bollywood tends to include all films coming from Bombay. In my time it meant just the Hindi Melodramas.

Indian Actors divided their work into three categories. First was the Hindi Melodramas, by which you became very rich and famous; but attracted little respect from your peers. Second was Art films [I was in these] which told a story. Not so much money here; but it attracted great respect from your peers. Last came the stage. This was practically unpaid but it drew enormous respect from your peers.

It was a similar story with Directors. I was lucky enough to work for Shyam Benegal who is one of India's most respected Directors. His films are still shown from time to time at the NFT. It was while working for Shyam that I met some of India's famous actors. They worked for Shyam for peanuts. They did not mind this because what they wanted was the prestige. He commanded enormous respect.

One of the many things that impressed me was that these Directors and Actors never talked down to me nor patronised me. They were always generous and kind. They taught me so much.

I never wanted to go to India. I was posted there. But in the event I fell in love with the place. Just like thousands of my countryman have done before me.

    ReplyDelete
  57. What an eye-opener for those of us, [and we are many] who have no knowledge of the difference in types of Indian dramas. I have had little contact on a personal basis with Indians, but have found those I have come across to be polite, helpful, and always interested in the lives and customs of others. They do however always seem very concerned with one's standing within society.
When you mentioned your families stage personas, I pricked up my ears at the name Swan, no hope that this could be part of the Flanders and Swan duo I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  58. No because they were Flanders and SwaNN

    ReplyDelete
  59. jadedoldie, your#1603,

No Swan was my Maternal Great Grandfather. He would have died before Donald Swan was born.

What you say about ones standing in the community was true. But I got the impression that Indians made allowances for the British. They viewed us as different from other foreigners. Well,we had been there for 300 years. Bombay was an egalitarian city. I found it easy to treat everyone I met as an equal.

    ReplyDelete
  60. jadedoldie, About my earlier audition where I did bah, bah, bah with flourish and feeling. I must point out that I can also do baa, baa, baaaa, with panache and elan. However, I will not take my clothes off unless the script really call for it.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Can't wait to hear about Ms McColls new show on Sky. More self obsessed, self promotion tonight.

No doubt a pile of posts about AC's hirsuteness - or lack of it if he has taken the paper of the razor blades.

    ReplyDelete
  62. The multi talented JH, lol. I must point out that our old ewe Gladstone, [so called because she's a right old bag] sheds her covering every spring with enthusiasm, she does not require a convoluted script, merely a man with shears!

  63. Hi

Can I go Off Topic? Does anyone watch the Alan Titchmarsh Show? Now moved to what I think is an inappropriate time of 5 p.m.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hi Danedweller, haven't seen the show, but used to catch bits of it when it was on earlier, so I couldn't comment on its appropriateness, or lack of! Is him indoors back or are you having to see to your own greens, lol. Off now to watch Come Dine With Me.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Danedweller

Is it any good? Never seen it.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Notice that tonight we have the joys of left wing Kaye Adams discussing the return of the'Toff' in politics. That'll be balanced I bet.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Alan Titchmarsh Show,

I watch it from time to time and like it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hi Jadedoldie and astroplums

I think in parts it is very good in others absolutely absolutely juvenille, especially the antics of AT who hogs the limelight at every opportunity. I left a 4 separate comments on the ITV AT formum and three were rejected although I did not breach their terms and conditions.

I noticed that with few exceptions most of the comments on the forum were all complimentary.
Maybe it needs a Not the Alan Titchmarsh Show forum!! LOL:

Yes, him in doors arrived home safely this morning, thankgoodness. I have been looking at the oven in tredpidation all week at the thought he would be delayed.

  70. astroplums,

Your #1728: If true to form this will be akin to a party political broadcast on behalf of the government. But is she not a bit behind the times. I thought Mandy had instructed Brown not to use the Toff attack.

    ReplyDelete
  71. JH 17.30

Andy Collins just drives me mad, more suited to childrens TV and AT is very rude to Rosemary Shrager, he has worn out the old joke of pretending to go downstairs so many times it is cringing. Never mind, probably just me. End of topic don't want to bore anyone´as this is a TOS blog.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Danedweller,

Don't worry about going off topic here. Please enrich the debate by talking about anything and everything that takes your fancy

  73. Two posts just gone up on last nights(Paul Merton) blog by Bill Smith. Amazed they have stayed up.
