WHITHER TOS?

A BBC source said recently about the future of TOS: “There has been a lot of talking about what happens if entertainment is saved for Fridays, does it change the show too much? It's still being discussed but the fact is that Adrian will not be required on Fridays.”

So far so good for Friday; but we still need to take care of the rest of the week. Maybe they can give Auntie Adrian a permanent rest from TOS.

I see this AC v. CE thing has raised itself in the press again. The piece I read states that Evans is going to be doing the hour long Friday slot with CB.

I don't wholly agree with your take on AC, in that everytime I have watched TOS with other presenters it was not that great. TOS as a show tends to revolve around the presenters rather than the pieces within the show.

Last night was a bore and I paid little attention to it.

However, I still stand by the belief that having one presenter on for 4 nights and the other 5, looks riduculous. Maybe they should put a sign on CB's head saying 'teachers pet'...not that it is her fault.

As for the over rated, lairy Chris Evans, I certainly won't watch on a Friday if he is on. Apparently Friday is going to be handed over to entertainment...well, TOS for me has never worked on the hour long version and the thought of backslapping luvvies for an hour on a Friday evening is too much to contemplate. Imagine CB getting mighty mouth, Amanda Holden in for an hour! Heads don't get further up the rectum than in that one.

I do have my symapthies with AC over this one.

  2. Given a golden opportunity to beef up the Friday show by using a different presenter WHY oh WHY have the BBC chosen an egotistical clown who is more disliked by the paying viewer than the present clown? Talk about wake up and smell the coffee, the only thing AC and CE have smelt since their arrival on the scene as "celebs" is the perfume of their own respective colons!!! Yet another own goal by the BBC.

  3. I agree that the proposed new TOS format and the choosing of Chris Evans is curious. Something is afoot. It might be the case that some in the BBC wish to lose AC but he is proving difficult to shake off. I still maintain that AC is an albatross around the neck of the BBC.

  4. JH your 18.12, albatross is putting it mildly, I believe he is the result of former badly treated DG's having put a curse on the company!

  5. Quite a few posters on the Facebook blog are unhappy about Evans taking Fridays slot.

Whilst AC is a bit stuttery at times, I don't think he is that bad and I do feel that the mix of personalitites between him and CB is easy enough, whilst not overbearing. Some of the numpties they have had in their place have not been so inspiring (with the exception of Gabby Logan).

  6. I got to say I've always thought it was the content that was the bigger problem, not the presenters.

  7. I like the two presenters they have on this week. The problem I have with CB & AC is that I find them overpowering, and CE will be worse.

I agree with you, in that the show, for me at least, seems to revolve around AC&CB more than the content.

Stephen Merchant was a bit of fun, but I find the presenters a bit constipated in personality terms.

  10. Adrian 4 days a week, Chris Evans one day a week and Christine five days a week. Can't see that working in a million years.

The BBC seem to become besotted with presenters. We have a DIY geezer who is suddenly on everything and is quite frankly pants. Now Evans, a DJ, with many failures on telly is forced upon us on a Friday- why?

CB will become overexposed being on 5 nights a week and some will be glad to see the back of her for a while. She could become a proper wag and just give up working and give us all a break. Actually, her little sister is quite tasty, give her a try. If TOS is to have a revamp, be brave and try new some faces.

  11. Pleasant easy watching again this evening, sorry astroplums, you know we will never agree about AC, but wouldn't life be dull if we all enjoyed the same things. The idea that the presenter is larger than the show is dear to AC's heart [or ego], and one I cannot accept.

  12. flunk, having signed extravagant contracts with these idiots the Beeb have to use them somewhere!
When you speak of CB's little sister, do you speak from experience?

No, but wish I did. She's a bank manager you know, very handy if I go skint.

I suppose your right, in that a contract means they have to use the useless lumocks.

  14. flunk,Perhaps they could both be used on the Radio 6 channel which is apparently to rebrand as Radio2+, this would really depress the present Radio 6 audience of approx 100 sad souls, who would then no longer oppose the closing of the station. The perfect excuse for BBC to dispose of AC and CE's inflated contracts.
