Rogue Trader

Matt & DanIt appears that ‘Daybreak’ will fail soon. Where can Adrian Chiles go next?

I suggest that with his track record he would fit comfortably into the BBC’s ‘Watchdog’ series. Not as a presenter but rather as a star on their ‘Rogue Trader’ item. Chiles is typical of a rogue trader. He is employed to rescue a show, such as TOS and Daybreak. He scrounges an exorbitant fee for his services, then walks away unscathed, having wrecked the show through his innate laziness and incompetence.

Any ideas for future employment for Adrian Chiles?

  1. Please see below. It appears that Christine Bleakely has been chosen to take the bullet that should be aimed at chiles, who is responsible for this debacle.

  2. It amazes me that these two are sooooooooo thick-skinned, can the twonks not see that they are unpopular? All my life I have been cursed with over-confidence, [believe me it CAN be a curse], but even I would have to acknowledge that ineptitude and lack of charm is ruining the new Heartbreak, fold my tent and steal quietly into the desert! He may be an arrogant sod, but the Bleak one is not so naive as she would have us believe! A little more time spent on developing her meagre people skills, and a little less on feathering her nest would take her some way to where she hoped to be.By the way, good to be back chaps.

  3. Jaded: Lovely to see you back and clearly on form. Trust all well with you.

Love the title "HeartBreak", perhaps Renne and Renata could release a single of the same name.

At least Manford & Jones have had the sense to keep their private lives away from the media and just get on doing their job, whereas the two numpties have achieved noteriety with their efforts.

Just had a look at todays DM online and the response is staggering - seems that a massive number of people want to vent their spleens over them.

Mind you, credit where it's due, I couldn't keep smiling with all that flak being thrown at me.

  4. astro, can't make up my mind whether it's thick skin, plain thick or contempt for the salary paying viewer!!

  5. J.H.

Many of the respondents to todays DM online article are like you, calling for the head of Chiles as well as that of the Bleak one. That particular thread must have had a record number of responses. Quite staggering number.

How the mighty seem to be falling. Can't see ITV giving her the X-Factor job if she gets the elbow from this gig.

  6. Astroplums, I have always believed that Adrian Chiles is the villain of the peace. He talked CB and several of the BBC production team, all his so called mates, to join him on 'Daybreak'.The Daybreak crew refer to the programme, pejoratively, as the Adrian Chiles Show. Chiefly because Chiles believes that he is the show and, consequently, has much to say about the production. Presumably, this is the reason the show has failed. Many of the crew are in fear of Chiles and their jobs. Chiles wrecked TOS and he has now done the same to Daybreak.

CB has behaved like a greedy and gullible fool.

  8. That should read 'persuaded' or 'coerced' in the second sentence of my 23:41.

Oh dear, it's too late to be doing this, Night, night.

  9. Closing sequence of Fridays TOS was at least different, with Alex Jones disappearing into the distance, yelling, "put me down".

  10. astroplums. She yelled. "put me down" but she loved it really. I remember the days when I used to carry my wife around for fun, our small daughters thought it was hilarious.

  11. I have racked my brain trying to think of gainful employment for Chiles, but can't conjure up even one suggestion! Pity the poor job centre employee tasked with getting that back into work. Should I have used the word "back" in that sentence, I think not.

Sad thing is that if both of them never present again, they end up with bundles in the bank. There is no justice in this world.

Love the suggestion that she might get a gig on the Shopping channel, promoting denture cream.

  13. astro, any denture cream that would secure that lot gets my vote, lol.
Off topic, if any of you ever get the chance you MUST visit Paul Ainsworth's restaurant Number 6 in Padstow.
Was carted there for lunch for a very special occasion, and the food is wonderful. It is by no means cheap, the bar bill alone could have helped David Cameron out, but Oh boy the scotch eggs alone were worth the visit! Quails eggs covered in a melange of salmon and smoked salmon and served with a delicate curry mayonnaise, must stop, have salivated all over the microphone, lol.

  14. jadedoldie,

I loved your mouth watering description of that meal. I envied you the treat as I tucked into my Sainsbury's sausage roll and Heinz baked beans.

I cannot remember the last time I went to a good restaurant. Certainly, not since I retired. There were quite a few occasions before that, chiefly abroad and sometimes but not often paid for by HMG. Oops - should not have said that bearing in mind those 'cuts', but it was part of the job.

Bulgaria has some fine restaurants, especially in Sofia. These are not costly when compared with UK prices.

  15. JH, a German ex-colleague of mine travels the world selling one of his inventions, and he has spent some time in Bulgaria. He, too, tells me the food is excellent, but that the wine is great if you want to vandalise paintwork, lol.
Apparently the worst food he has eaten was served to him in Iceland.

  16. Just caught the last two minutes of TOS tonight...who was that miserable git of a guest?

  17. Well summed up astro, he is a film director whose name escapes me. Apparently he directed Abigails Party, that was a bundle of laughs too if I remember rightly, lol. At one point Ithought he had died onscreen, but no, he awakened and continued to hold us all in a state of great excitement.

  18. Nice touch with Jason Manford tonight - mimicking the prat they had on last night.
At least these two let the guest have a voice and are not intrusive. AC take note!
