A GOOD CURE FOR INSOMNIA

From reading last night's TOSblog it appears that viewers are at last tiring of the show. I suspect that AC & CB will jump ship when the new producer takes over.

  1. It must be nearly TOS time again, I am beginning to feel sleepy.

  3. Lots of forced smiles tonight! Never mind, work for them is over for the week, so who cares, they're probably of to the Ivy now.

That type of presenting really is money for old rope.

Thanks. It is photoshopped from an image sent to me by jadedoldie.

  6. The way they are presenting TOS they may be making enough rope to hang themselves sooner rather than later.

The Jacket he was wearing tonight is the same one he modeled on the cat walk the other evening. A freebie courtesy of the licence payers. Or maybe it was his own all along!

  7. It's as though AC & CB have given up. Maybe they know something.

  8. There is a strong possibility that the new producer will want to 'make the show his own' and will change the format and some of the presenting team. They are never happy to leave things unchanged.

AC is a strong contender to take over the Jonathan Ross Show since Chris Evans said he wasn't interested.

Just cannot see him replace Ross. Whilst both can be witty, don't think AC's 'profile' is suited to being risque or fruity with the girls as Ross has been in the past.

  10. Despite not being a fan of Jonathon Ross, I really think he would be impossible to replace. That would be like having the Benny Hill show with AC instead of Benny! Better perhaps to commission a new show.

Neither can I, he doesn't possess the wit, charm or charisma to hold an audience for an hour on his own. A show at that time in the evening is usually directed at the under 40's. I don't watch it so I might be wrong.

Don't think would not appeal to the 20 - 35 age group. Whether he appeals to many women in that age group, or even older, is doubtful and if he does they need to go to Specsavers

In fairnes to the guy, the picture we have of him is as a financial or sports journo. Once a picture has been painted it is difficult to alter the image. Can you imagine Robert Peston trying to run a comedy show? Horses for courses.

  13. You mean Robert Peston didn't mean to be funny? He made me laugh!

I appreciate AC's journalistic background but
he has been fronting TOS since 2007, time enough to develop an onscreen personality, strong enough to cut across the barrier of the studio camera.

I agree with jadedoldie, maybe it would be better to commission something new. Whatever it might be, please God let it be entertaining.

I see that your Steve Allen is on at a respectable hour on Sunday (0800) - I give him a try.

As for AC & CB I don't know what the answer is. Just been looking at the rags on the web and the 'discussion blog' in the Sun,re her outburst, are either very contempuous or in mild agreement. But some are positively vicious, but most agree that she seems to have become a publicity seeker since becoming a Wag and worse since she befriended the vile Amanda Holdup.

Steve Allen has been on LBC for 31 years, a bit of a record for a talk jock I think.

He does an earlier 'In conversation' pre recorded programme, quite interesting depending on the guest. I think that is on around 7 a.m. He has a good interviewing technique (unlike AC ha ha).

He basically reviews the newspapers and rambles on about everything and anything It is usually good fun depending on what's in the newspapers.
He doesn't take phone calls(thank goodness) only emails and he doesn't take hostages either!

Unlike his weekday prog, his sunday show includes a guest 'Gadget Guru' towards the end of the show.

Hope you find him as amusing and funny as I do.

  17. I've just watched two episodes of 'Only Fools And Horses' -- 'Cwying' & and the one where Rodney wins the under 15 painting competition. They have really cheered me up. I wish the BBC would give us more quality shows like this.

  18. Re Fools and Horses, I am wondering what the "prequel" Rock and Chips is going to be like, I shall record it tonight if I can set the DVD recorder, lol, but I think I will Sky+ it as wel!

It's the same author but I've heard it's a more serious story with not many laughs. I will watch 'Being Human' on BBC 3 instead. Come to think of it that does not have too many laughs either.

I like the picture of the snowdrops in your garden.

  21. Re 17.58, I posted a message that was intended for my friend, please excuse a silly old woman! I spotted the snowdrops when I was watching our resident moorhen through the scope, and sent Loveday to take a quick snap of them. The daffodils and narcissi will be in ful bloom within a fortnight, and the cyclamen are still hanging on in the deeper parts of the wooded areas!

Still haven't managed to catch LBC's Steve Allen. Did have a look at his blog and noted he is having a pop at Star readers for their perceived desire to know about AC's finances.

Had a look at the Sunday Star and find they have given out full details of AC's finances. Although Companies House is a public body and the details are public, I think it a bit unfair to AC that they have gone to this extent. Both AC & CB seem to be getting it in the neck with the press at the moment. Mind you one of them should not be surprised and is well on the way to becoming tabloid fodder.

  24. Friday's TOS blog is fascinating in that there has not been one removal.

Oops, I may have spoken to soon!

  25. Steve Allen LBC said this morning whilst reviewing the newspapers,
'Christine Bleakley must be wollowing in all her new found publicity. She was seen leaving a venue with FL but they left in separate cars. Hers sped off at high speed. Let's face it, she is only a very, very average presenter, hardly a star!'
