The search for AC’s replacement goes on.

Gene-Hunt-for-TOS

This is Gene Hunt: I imagine him with CB as they sit beside each other on that silly sofa.

The BBC can produce quality shows like ‘Life On Mars’, ‘Ashes To Ashes’, ‘Yes Minister’, ‘Fawlty Towers’ and many more that are enduring and acclaimed around the world. So perhaps I can sometimes forgive them for TOS?

In the meantime I take hope from my belief that talented BBC producers are working hard to rescue TOS from its mediocrity. If they come to use experienced TV journalists to host the show then we might have another ‘Tonight’ or ‘Nationwide’.

CB is best left to pursue her strengths which is to be a WAG. The vacuous CB is no Alex Drake.

  1. Is it just me or does anyone else find it odd that a woman who wore short skirts virtually every night, now seems to only wear trousers or leggings. CB was clearly keen to show off her best asset in the past but now seems reticent to.

Have never seen a female TV presenter do this - perhaps she's converted to Islam and she will be made to wear a burqa soon.

  2. Having watched some of these male presenters I am of the firm opinion that AC worked better. Matt Baker comes accross as a little boy alongside CB. For me it is a case of 'better the devil you know'.

Another thing, is it TOS or the WAG show? Do we really need to hear references about Lampard on the programme simply because she is dating him? Perhaps TOS could go the whole hog and get CB's friend, that utterly self-obsessed loudmouth Amanda Holden on the show, then we will have the 3 card trick.

    P.S. has everyone abandoned TOS?

  3. I haven't actually abandoned the show, but I AM rapidly losing the will to live. It was an absolute hoot tonight watching the oh so dim CB switching her gaze with the speed of snail between John Mottson [charming man] and the autocue!!! I can never see myself agreeing that AC was better than any of the inepts they have so far introduced to the sofa, but this latest twit ruined Countryfile for me with his wishy washy style.

  4. Like jadedoldie I too have not abandoned TOS. It's just that sometimes I get stuck for anything to say. I am desperately seeking something favourable about the show but finding it difficult.

The producers will continue the search for new presenters. As I commented above.

I don't think that AC worked better it was just that we got used to him being that awful.

Astroplums on your observation about the now hidden legs of CB. I suspect that FL is jealous. After all, most footballers are proud of their own legs and resent competition from any source.

  5. I have just had a thought. Maybe FL plans to retire from football and join CB as co-presenter. What a dreadful thing that would be. Perhaps AC will make guest appearances and sit between them.

Fair point. I keep looking for him (FL) in rent-a-crowd. FL as copresenter would be interesting, with CB introducing the next piece... FL's very own production, with CFC team-mates, a topshelf production of TOSsers. (I must find the You Tube link and post it here)

  7. Blimey JH. TOS is nominated for the most talked about programme of 2009 and may win a Bafta.

Think they may have missed the point - it was talked about for all the wrong reasons...CB & AC!

  8. astroplums, Please say that you are kidding me. TOS for a BAFTA, this cannot be. Is it a serious proposal or just newspaper celebrity gossip? Of course you could argue that TOS is the best in its category eg vacuous nonsense.

With the two presenters it is a case of the bland leading the bland.

  10. How can that stupid woman find cause to laugh at the fact that people are unable to obtain a mortgage because of the ingress of knotweed? Oh yes, of course, it doesn't affect her, her salary is above average, and the wag perks pay for most things! Bafta, my arse!!!!!

  15. Danedweller. Your 1957: I missed TOS tonight because I went to a drinks party. The first in a very long time. However, I left early so that I could get back home in time for 'Ashes To Ashes'. I'm pleased that I did. It was a wonderful final episode. This was the BBC at its best. So much so that I can even forgive them TOS.

Great twist to the end of Ashes to Ashes, I didn't see it coming! Such a pity that quality programming like this is becoming a rarity on British TV (once heralded as the best in the World!).

  17. Is CB becoming louder since ACs departure, or is it just my imagination?

    The Quatro is dead! RIP

  19. danedweller, Your 2154: CB appears to gain confidence when placed with someone she considers to be lower in the pecking order. But I notice that she remains very quiet in the company of Paul Merton. I expect she is frightened of him.

  20. JH, 1505.

Haven't seen much of TOS recently as we had guests over from the UK, so will take note of your observations this week if PM is on. Any news of who is going to permanently keep CB company on the sofa?
