Daybreak

swimming_poolWhat Jan Moir has written about Chiles and Bleakley on ‘Daybreak’ applies throughout much of television. She says, “At the moment, [Daybreak] is just too glutinously self-reverential for its own good. It might improve when Adrian and Christine realise that Daybreak is not about them, it's about us.” I hope that Jason and Alex are able to heed her words. To me it appears that they already have. TOS is a great improvement.

  1. Ah, the joys of having a few days off have allowed me to see daybreak, albeit for short periods. Don't understand how anyone could watch an entire show.

Jan Moir is right in that this is not about the presenters, but, the programme makers and not Renee & Renata are at fault for punting the programme as if it is all about the presenters.

The end result is two people being asked to be something other than themselves and it doesn't work.

J.H.I agree with you re TOS, although I do think that Jason Manford is crowding out Alex Jones at times. She is starting to come across with her own personality and seems to have a pleasant sense of fun and in time I think she will be great.

Can only hope she doesn't become a media 'celeb' like Renata and keeps her private life to herself.

  2. If the "Daybreak" facebook page is anything to go by, Renee & Renata must be wondering what to do next.

  3. I read that Eamon Holmes has also had a dig at Renata. The pair appear surrounded by hostile forces.

  4. Friday show with Priscila Presley was frightening. That womans' face is paraysed with botox. Not a pleasant sight.
Went out early this morning and watched Daybreak for first 20 minutes. Blimey, I thought Renata was going to have a breakdown. Never seen her with a face like that before. Not a happy camper.

  5. Now I understand why people in the business tend to dislike Phil Collins as a person.

  6. So Ms Hunt sees the buffers approaching as the gravy train heads for the at full speed!!!

  7. JH, re your 11.01, I bet the gorilla in the ad is MUCH more endearing, lol.

  8. Good to see that Jay Hunt is off to the backwaters of C4.

TOS is becoming pleasant, easy viewing for dinner time. Good guests and tomorrow with that great raconteur S.Fry should be fun.

  9. With the departure of Jay Hunt things can only get better.

  10. Really enjoyed Stephen Fry tonight and am taking to Alex Jones in that she is not intrusive and does her job well.

Just had a look at the DM online and the response to an article on Daybreak. Never seen so much vitriol against two people as I have against Renee & Renata. They certainly have not made themselves popular, however I do think a lot of the DM response is vindictive for the sake of it...they are not that bad.

  11. Great fun with Dame Edna last night and Matt Baker reacted well to the joshing. Mind you don't think Christine Walkden would have been too chuffed.

  12. It appeared to me that Christine Walkden (is she the gardener?) tried too hard to be amusing and failed miserably. She was almost hysterical.

  13. Wow, it's gone quiet on here.

TOS is ticking along pleasantly and if the press reports are accurate, Renee & Renata are not setting the morning world on fire.

By the way JH, I love the seaside postcard in the header.

    Hope you are all well!

  14. Astroplums, My apologies for the silence. I've been away from the internet a lot. I've not even had the time to watch TOS.

    How is everyone?

  15. The One Show is miles better. Daybreak is cringeworthy at best.

  16. Support - The One Show is ticking along quietly with some interesting pieces. It is more about the show now than the presenters. Sadly, what I have seen of Daybreak is about the presenters and is not terribly interesting - getting awful write ups in the rags.

Jaded et al -trust yo are all well.
