Stand-ins

Matt Allwright Paul Merton According to today’s Daily Mail Watchdog host Matt Allwright will present The One Show after Adrian Chiles' departure, with comedian Paul Merton taking over the Thursday slot.

Things are looking up.

I am looking forward to the change and the prospect of more stand-ins. Among other things it will test the talents of CB.

I am not too sure about Matt Allwright because in my experience he has a tendency to be silly.

But I look forward to Paul Merton. He has shown that he can be funny or serious depending upon the needs of the show.

Does anyone have a suggestion for stand-ins, particularly for the bizarre?

Here is the link to the DM article.

Paul Merton is fine in certain situations, but I am not sure this is his bag. Matt Allwright - God knows. This sounds like an almighty cockup to me and if they keep messing around I am sure that regular viewers will desert the sinking ship in droves. Off to GMTV CB, before they cock it up completely.

More garbage in the Sun today, suggesting the new full time guy could either be Richard Madeley or that other dick, Richard Hammond.

With Madeley, CB would be interupted constantly, Hammond tries too hard to be funny. They're even suggesting that this is a £750,000 a year gig! Hope CB gets the same if she stays.

This is an ideal time to give a new face a start - remember CB was virually unknown when she took over from Klass at much shorter notice.. Usual crap from the BBC in that they will resort to old wearied faces.

Maybe Frank Lampard could do a few nights, he seems to spend a lot of time at the studios with CB and if they have any problems, TOS producers could always turn to this latin scholar,
would-be Mensa genius and producer of his own home made movies of a certain genre. Given that he 'contents her very much', he will be a winner! In fact they could copy 'This Morning'and have it off on the couch.

  2. Frank Skinner would be my choice.

How about Dan Snow or Phil Tufnell. At least Phil has a good sense of fun which would work well with CB.

  4. Phil Tufnell ye, but not keen on Dan Snow.

  5. I agree that they should give some unknowns a try.

  6. How about Johnny Vegas? The producer would not get much done but the chaos would be hilarious.

Frank skinner is big mates with Adrian.I doubt you'll see he on the one show again as a guest nevermind a presenter.

    P.S
Just read about Grainne Seoige the Irish girl GMTV are thinking about teaming up with Adrian.Talk about like for like.

  9. CB has given up skirts ...forgive me being perplexed, is she hiding something or banned from wearing them?

  11. I think it's called power dressing, she obviously doesn't need to do it now.

  12. Gopod guest tonight - the clips of the Two Ronnies were classics.

Found out a bit about your Grainne Seoige - apparently she is doing few stand in sports bits on GMTV this week and has gone down very well.

Certainly going to steal some CB's thunder.

They had 4 guests on from 'Outnumbered', one being a young girl of about 7 or 8 years, who did a funny and AC asked if she would like to pair up with him on the sofa at GMTV. I think some of the rent-a-crowd (staff) were a bit taken aback. Nothing serious but it did make me laugh. Technically TOS tonight was a bit of a mess. Tomorrow night should be interesting, given it is AC's last.

  19. It was quite pleasant.

Although many of you didn't like AC and he did on occasions screw up a bit, I really don't think the show will be any good with changing presenters and this idiot Evans on a Friday

Who did she say was in his place on Monday?

  20. Nice to see CB got her legs out for AC's last show.I have a feeling this is the begining of the end for the one show.

It was a change after 3 weeks of leggings.

I agree with you as far as the end of TOS is concerned. Very few shows survive with so much restructuring. I think CB will be off to new pastures if she doesn't gel with the newby and CE.

  22. Anyone heard from Jaded? She's gone AWOL. Hope she is o.k.

  23. Astroplum my feeling is the bbc are trying to fix something that wasn't broken with a person who hasn't had a hit TV show for 15 years. The one show did need a bet of tweeking, but what they have done is almost suicidal. It'll also be interesting to see how CB does now shes going to be the senior presenter.

I cannot imagine Chris Evans taking second place to a woman. I do hope she usurps him.

  25. Fascinating looking at the pictures of AC & CB in the papers today. In all pics, whether with the Lump, AC or any other bloke, she is always ten paces ahead. Is this a need to be seen as the dominatrix or just Top Cat?

  26. In my opinion CB is a real pain, and someone the BBC should be staying clear of.
