Andrew Neil

Andrew Neil

I continue to enjoy TOS. The recent appearance of Andrew Neil raises the quality of the show. Andrew Neil is a well informed journalist.  In my opinion he is the best forensic interviewer on TV. He goes out of his way to be impartial.

Andrew Neil is a bit Radio 4 and for me this is a good thing; but it may not sit well with those misguided enough to believe that Pauline Prescott is representative of the TOS audience.

  1. I wish HKA was still with us with all this talk about the BBC moving up t'north.

  2. Agree with you about Andrew Neil. (he also has a sense of humour & fun which doesn't go amiss).

Yes, HKA's input would be interesting. However, I have grave doubts about this move to Salford being completed successfully.

  3. As I recall Andrew Neil in his youth was frequently pictured in the gossip columns with a new girlfriend on his arm.

I think the BBC move is politically motived, with the aim being to provide public sector jobs in labour constituencies. I think the planed move will be watered down or maybe even fall apart completely.

  4. I once watched Andrew Neil take Diane Abbott apart at the seams, all the time staying absolutely straightfaced, he has been a favourite of mine ever since. I too miss HKA's comments, be good too here from him!

  7. jadedoldie,

I have just looked up 'oromorph'. You always rise above it.

  8. JH, I have to say, opiate drugs are completely wasted on addicts, lol. The consultant was rather concerned that I use brandy to take away the taste of the meds, but we have come to an amicable agreement, and I now do as I wish!

  9. I have had opiate drugs just once. I had been in pain for 48 hours with a wisdom tooth that had inconveniently grown into the bone. I had drunk half a bottle of whiskey to try and kill the pain, with no effect. I was desperate because I had to visit my wife in hospital who had just given birth to our first child, who I had yet to see. This was in the days when fathers were told to clear off somewhere else during childbirth. Anyway, her anesthetist took pity on me and gave me a few tiny white pills to take home. Fantastic: the pain evaporated and I spent half an hour floating above the bed. I spent the next three days walking on cotton wool pavements and grinning inanely at people. Ah the sixties, a wonderful decade.

  10. What a lovely story, I assume you were pleased with your firstborn, when you came back to Earth.

  12. Theirs is the photo on the home page, is it not? You are fortunate to have children you can love AND like, not two emotions that always go hand in hand. I chose not to have children, a move I must admit I have not regretted. I was a career girl, with not a single maternal instinct to be found!

  13. jadedoldie, Yes, that's them on my first post. Yes, I do love them and I like them and I also have a great deal of respect for them.

When they arrive in your life it's a case of here is your new baby daughter, isn't she lovely. But there is a price to pay. You are sentenced to worry about her for the rest of your life.
